AfterThoughts is a storytelling podcast which looks at life beyond a cancer diagnosis when you’re under the age of 40. 100,000 young people in the UK live with, and beyond, cancer. This is a podcast that tells the rich and diverse stories of those young people.
Each series we make the invisible impacts of a cancer diagnosis visible and showcase the lives of seven diverse young people living with, or beyond, cancer. Through highlighting these stories, we shift the cancer narrative away from the mutated cells to the humans living in the aftermath of hearing the words “you have cancer” to prompt better discussion around the support available to people beyond a trauma like cancer.
Featuring seven topics from seven young people over a seven episode series, we’ve worked with 56 Storytellers, explored topics including fertility, mental wellbeing, living with cancer and much more. The podcast now has over 12,000 downloads.
You can see all of the storytellers below and find all the episodes on Simplecast, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. The series have been supported by Trekstock, Teenage Cancer Trust & TEVA.
