Enviro Takeover

Enviro Takeover is an adventure aimed at 8-10 year old pupils that has been run for over 300 young people. Pupils are recruited to join T.R.E.E, an organisation that aims to sow the seeds of positive climate action by inspiring through creativity. The aim of our project is to support young people to develop techniques to manage climate anxiety and feel empowered as they see the real-world impact their enviro-inspired creativity makes.

Plot Summary

The adventure begins with the school announcing they have the opportunity to win a competition to become a TREE school. They learn about climate change and make a proposal to TREE, which wins the competition meaning they will be invited to the local venue for a TREE Ceremony, and their school will join TREE.

Hayley, who runs TREE then visits the school to congratulate the classes and explain what will happen now they are joining TREE, as TREE Agents. But during the in-school launch day, Hector, a financial advisor at the external venue announces that the TREE Ceremony will be cancelled as he believes young people will find participating too stressful/depressing - especially as there is nothing they can really do to make a difference.

Hayley is sad but does not give up. She goes undercover with young people and her artist friends and run workshops in the school over a week before sneaking in to the venue, taking over the space and using the art they create to change Hector’s mind (live streaming it to the world outside).
